the Chastity Belt record is out, listen/download.
one of my favorite bands in the world, Chastity Belt, came up last month and made a record with me and Peter. The single, “James Dean,” premiered yesterday [via the Seattle Times]. Their forthcoming EP, Fuck Chastity Belt, may or may not be tremendous; I have played it endlessly since we finished it, and I really do believe in it, but I cannot tell how much of this is my having been involved in something so good.
felt kind of like writing a piece here about how all the swedish bands that made things that I really cared about in 2007-2008 - all the things that really shaped what I wanted pop music to sound like, like yearbook 1 by studio and no way down by air france and a new chance by tta, etc - are all broken up now with no new work to show for it, but then I tried to deal with how tumblr seems to arbitrarily ignore everything about formatting text; I try to change tabs and it randomly seems to bold my last paragraph for no reason, I hold down ‘option’ and ‘delete’ in order to backspace over whole words and it continues to delete them one character at a time, and now I’m just thinking about how things that don’t work the way I think they will, musicians’ careers 4-5 years after making something that really does mean a lot to me included, are really pretty frustrating

Nope, pretty sure it sells out entirely at the brewery. I ended up getting three of Abyss, though two of them are going to DC so I can get some rare east coast stuff and Jolly Pumpkin sours, and that’s it for this year (aside from $3 pints when it showed up a few blocks from my house, mm/aghhhhhhh11%)
