this post is also about fried foods

I really need more businesses to serve me fried food between 2 AM and 8 AM that aren’t Shari’s (where people could die) or Jack in the Box (where I’ve driven people too often and where nothing sounds at all appealing). I don’t actually neeed more businesses to serve me fried foods, since really there’s nothing good that can come from it, but I’m pretty fond of the idea of having access to them regardless.

I’d never been to Popular Donuts in its opening hours before (it’s open from 4 AM-7 PM every day because they understand me like no one else here ever could) and I can state with a great deal of certainty that I really like Popular Donuts in its opening hours. The sign is probably my favorite thing in this entire city; it’s just a big banner that reads “Popular Donuts” and “It’s Real” in smaller print underneath. Given that this is Walla Walla, there’s also a 99% chance that there’s a Pepsi logo somewhere on there that I’m forgetting as I type this. I bought an old fashioned doughnut with maple frosting, which was pretty delicious, and felt the subsequent fried food punishment-thing as I rode my bike home back up an empty Main Street. We saw one other cyclist, headed off in some other direction, but it was just that guy and night bakers (who are much more serious than I will ever be).
