I don’t know what I’m sick with, but I woke up on Tuesday feeling something that resembled a brutal hangover minus the dehydration. I hadn’t been drinking, so I don’t think that was the issue, and whereas one usually gives way to a 3-5 hour turnaround, I was more or less bedridden and unable to maintain my balance for the better part of the day. Yesterday was the same, today I’m feeling well enough to, uh, not fall over when I get up. This is a plus.

I did, however, experience something of note: all music sounded absolutely awful for some reason. This may have something to do with the fact that that Owl City song is the #1 song in America, and it may somehow be tainting all of my listening, since every time I hear Owl City music I feel this weird, instinctive urge to mute it or turn it off that I’ve yet to understand. I’ve never experienced such an all-consuming urge to block out a specific musician before and I don’t really understand where it’s coming from or why it exists. But I wasn’t able to get through anything, really, without getting frustrated with it for some reason or another. I don’t know what to make of this.

Synopsis

This movie is made in the future and a space ship is stuck near Jupiter. Sam Neill is very sad because his wife has died. Then they find out that the ship has been to another dimension and it is like hell and everyone sees their worst nightmares.

Last year, Rhino/Warner reissued all five Factory-era New Order albums. The sources for the bonus material were probably not the masters, a bunch of stuff was mislabeled, and the production errors that had existed since the 1980s went predominantly uncorrected; Click here for a particularly lengthy list of errors if you’re into that kind of thing. At the same source you’ll discover that while Rhino reissued all five discs in the last month, they apparently have new problems, too.

Conveniently, the internet is working to address this. Two fellows named £50 Note and Bruce are doing full restorations of the band’s entire Factory-era singles run to be followed by similar restorations for Joy Division singles. Everything released so far sounds great and the attached Peter Saville art is all pretty stunning. As it turns out, New Order was a pretty excellent singles band; I’ve also been stuck playing “True Faith” obsessively all week. Good work, internet.

the joke is that the question is phrased poorly. It should not be “what’s on your ipod”, it should be “what’s loaded onto / what’s in your ipod”. He’s saying that what’s on his iPod is metal.
